Nucor orders more chemical energy package for new plate steel mill complex

MORE has been selected to supply the chemical energy package for Nucor Corporation’s new greenfield plate steel mill complex in Brandenburg, Kentucky, USA.
The facility will be capable of producing 1.2 million net tons per year of steel plate products.
The state-of-the-art chemical energy package will be utilized in the new Danieli Electric Arc Furnace. The 150 tons tapping capacity EAF will be a
full platform design with an EBT. It includes an all modern mechatronic devices to improve the performance and the safety of the EAF.
These include pneumatic lime injection, LINDARCâ„¢ EVO laser off-gas monitoring, Danieli Q-MELT optimization package, and ZERO MEN AROUND devices.

The order also includes combined M-ONE injectors, machined copper bulged blocks with back-fire prevention system, dedicated oxygen/natural gas valve stands, carbon/lime dispensers, and the latest automation and
process control systems. These systems will minimalize transformation costs.

The first plate is expected to be rolled in 2022.
